Unreal 3 Engine: ‘Under the Hood’ Video

My Eyes, My Eyes!

The Unreal Engine is arguably the most renowned game engine in existence. In its various incarnations over the past thirteen years, it has been the sturdy backbone of a vast range of titles, including Deus Ex, Thief: Deadly Shadows, the Splinter Cell games, Gears of War and Mass Effect.

Despite being in use since 2006, the latest version, Unreal Engine 3, continues to impress at the eye-bleeding level. Thanks to constant updates by the dedicated folks at Epic Games, Unreal Engine 3 has been rendered seemingly immune to the effects of old age.

A new video showcasing these tweaks proves just that. With delicious DX11 support, including particle tessellation and displacement, deferred rendering with multi-sampling anti-aliasing support (translation: easier for programmers to manage dynamic lighting) and other stunning improvements, Unreal Engine 3 is going from strength to strength.

Put your Ray-Bans on:

The graphical future of videogames is here, and it’s very, very shiny.
