Halo: The Great Journey: The Art of Building Worlds Art Book to Release Later This Year

Master Chief Embraces His Artistic Side

Titan Books contacted us this morning to inform us that they have a real treat in store for Halo fans. And this is something that you’re really going to like. The publishing group has acquired exclusive rights to publish Halo: The Great Journey: The Art of Building Worlds, an art book that charts the glorious decade that gave us Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo Wars, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Legends and Halo: Reach. The work is described as “a lavish spectacular collection of groundbreaking art, published to celebrate the franchise’s 10th anniversary”. Judging by the astonishing front cover of the book, we would have to agree. And we haven’t even seen the final product yet!

The official press release goes on to state that:

The Art of Building Worlds is the ultimate gallery of the Halo universe, with over 400 images including sketches, commentary, and concept art from all stages of development, including characters, weapons, and sweeping landscapes as envisioned by more than thirty of the amazing artists behind the first ten years of Halo including Isaac Hannaford, Shi Kai Wang, Frank Capezzuto and Jaime Jones. From the earliest concepts for The Pillar of Autumn and The Maw to the streets of New Mombasa, from Master Chief to Noble Six, here you’ll find unparalleled access to the artistic innovation of the Halo archive.

The book is set to release 18th October, 2011 and will retail at £24.99 ($29.95 USD). We’ll keep you posted as we learn more.

I actually have the original Halo artbook that was released around the time Halo 2 came out. It’s a pretty cool book!
