Star Wars: The Old Republic Opening Cinematic Trailer Is Strong With the Force

Intro Cinematic Sheds Some Light on the Setting of BioWare’s Highly Anticipated Star Wars MMORPG

Although it may be only a cinematic trailer, the folks here at Bits ‘n’ Bytes Gaming HQ still think that Star Wars: The Old Republic is shaping up to be one impressive piece of software.  The opening trailer gives us a glimpse into The Old Republic’s story, with a massive Sith assault on a Republic spacestation in orbit around the infamous Sith homeworld, Korriban.  The lightning-fast and massive attack catches the Republic more than off-guard, and we see a few select heroes (all showcasing a variety of the game’s classes) teaming up and fighting alongside one another to escape the deadly ambush.  The amount of action in the trailer alone redefines the definition of the term epic.

BioWare’s MMORPG is shaping up to be a pretty massive-looking game and it’s already sporting a lot of polish.  Will it be the much-fabled World of Warcraft beater?  Only time will tell.

YI! Looks really good. But I’m curious about two things: subscription prices and is this actual gameplay footage? If it was, that would be fantastic.

Wait, there are a few other things I just noticed:
#1: How does the Jedi master realize almost instantly its the Sith? I know there are probably some distinctive markings, but this information is not evident.

#2: Is that Darth Revan and Darth Malak? It looks like it could be them, but I’m not sure.

#3: Liking the Millennium Falcon-esque turrets.

  2. Chad M. says:

There’s no way that’s actual gameplay footage. As an MMO it needs to be able to run on the largest number of systems possible. It will look on par with BioWare’s other games, probably. This is just a cinematic trailer for the game.
