Probable Battlefield 3 PC Specs Outlined

I Need a Graphics Card, Here!

Dun dun dun dun-dun-dun, dun dun dun dun-dun-dun. Yeah, you know which theme tune I’m humming. On 25 October, the sweet nectar of shooters, Battlefield 3, will arrive to save us from Call of Duty supersaturation and monopoly. Of course, you’ll have to wait for our no doubt infallible review to see if it really can dethrone its bigger cousin, but there’s no doubt that the struggle between it and Modern Warfare 3 will be an epic one. (Unless you buy both, that is. Come on, you know you will.)

PC gamers um-ing and ah-ing over whether or not to upgrade their machine before then may have their minds resolved today, if the Battlefield 3 minimum and recommended specs released by GameStop are to believed. Unfortunately, there has been no official confirmation that they are correct, but one can make an educated guess and presume that the videogames retailer has not plucked them out of thin-air:

MINIMUM

  • HDD: 15 GB for disc version or 10 GB for digital version
  • OS: Windows Vista or Windows 7
  • Processor: Core 2 Duo, 2.0GHz
  • Memory: 2GB RAM
  • Video Card: DirectX 10 or 11 compatible Nvidia or AMD ATI card
RECOMMENDED
  • HDD: 15 GB for disc version or 10 GB for digital version
  • OS: Windows 7 64-bit
  • Processor: Quad-core Intel or AMD CPU
  • Memory: 4GB RAM
  • Video Card: DirectX 11 Nvidia or AMD ATI card, GeForce GTX 460, Radeon HD 6850
Because some of the specifications are slightly vague, we’ll keep you updated if EA/DICE release an official statement. Frostbite 2 will be a cruel mistress, no doubt.
