Plans to Expand Dead Space Franchise

Have You Got What It Takes to Be a Part of Visceral Games?

Visceral Games, the team behind such hits as Army of Two and Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers, are looking for people to join their team, with the aim of releasing a third Dead Space game.

A job listing on Gamasutra calls for a Senior Development Director specifically for the Dead Space franchise, with one of the more notable requirements being having “created a development plan for a title from concept to ship”, and duties including “work[ing] with team to plan and schedule project and milestones”.

This confirms everything from a past interview between IGN and Frank Gibeau, the EA Games President, when he revealed EA’s plans for the series’ expansion, praising Resident Evil and discussing how EA are striving to bring Dead Space to the same high bar:

The Resident Evil series was awesome, the early versions were phenomenal. [Capcom] did a good job of growing the franchise to a very large market. I think we still have some areas to grow with Dead Space in terms of trying to reach a broader audience without losing the quality and that survival-horror mechanic. That’s how we’re going to think about it as we think about Dead Space 3 and what we do next with the IP.

It’s clear that both EA and Visceral Games have some serious aspirations when it comes to bringing the survival-horror series to a larger market, and needless to say, they want both their fans and future job applicants to share this ambition. These are not just hollow words and promises, as the job listings have proven; we can count on Dead Space 3 being of massive importance to EA.
