Battlefield 3 Not Coming to Steam?

No Steam Ahead!

A list of all digital retailers who would be carrying EA’s upcoming Battlefield 3 was recently posted on the game’s website, but quickly removed after reports surfaced that Valve’s Steam service was not on the list. It’s possible that there is a bit of bad blood between the two companies, after Valve discontinued offering EA’s Crysis 2 on Steam, resulting in a strain in their relationship. Valve claims to have made the decision to pull Crysis 2 due to EA’s method of releasing post-release content.

EA’s David DeMartini put it bluntly in an interview with IndustryGamers:

…everyone seems to find our policy acceptable with a singular exception.

The game demo of Battlefield 3 at this year’s E3 was singularly responsible for scores of jaw injuries from massive unhinging and floor-dropping. Hopefully, despite this bit of back-and-forth passive aggressiveness, Battlefield 3 will still find its audience when it rumbles into your town like a convoy of armored tanks on 25 October, 2011.
