New Music Service Coming to Xbox 360

Come this autumn, prepare your eardrums for over 11 million songs, all in your Xbox.

In this morning’s Microsoft Partner Conference, Steve Ballmer, Microsoft’s chief executive officer, revealed Microsoft’s plans for a music service exclusive to the Xbox 360, entitled (you guessed it!) Xbox Music.

Information is limited at this stage, but a report on Business Insider suggests that the service will include over 11 million songs, as well as Kinect capabilities such as voice recognition. The article also slates the service’s release for autumn, perhaps tying in with the final stages of the Xbox 360’s cloud service.

Business Insider also implies that the service will build upon the current Xbox music provider, the Zune Marketplace, perhaps making the service more convenient for console users.

More information is bound to come in the next few weeks now that the news is out in the open, and we’ll keep you posted as more develops.
