Talisman of Death Fighting Fantasy Mini in the Works

If You Want to Be the Hero, Turn to Page 18

Steve Jackson and Ian Livingstone were an important part of my childhood; they introduced me to the world of fantasy, role-playing, and gaming, and they did this at a time well before any videogame ever did, through a medium I already loved deeply: books. Their Fighting Fantasy books of the “Choose Your Adventure” type were the first such books I ever came across, and subsequently no others ever came close in quality and fun. Even though they were a part of my life only briefly (and long ago, it seems), they installed a fond love in me for all things role-playing.

Thus, there’s good news on the horizon for gamers of today: UK developer Laughing Jackal recently announced that it’s working on a PlayStation Mini adaptation of Talisman of Death, from the Fighting Fantasy series. This downloadable title will be available both for the PSP and PS3, and will go beyond simply giving you the text of the book. Players will enjoy a 3D interface, a logbook, and character bios. Several combat systems will also be in place; purists will be able to roll the standard 6-sided dice for battles, while there is a new tile-based system to choose from as well. Laughing Jackal has pledged that the rules from the books will be kept intact for this release.

No official date of release has been announced for this title yet, but we’re sure more info will be made available by the developer soon.
