Brink’s First DLC Gets Release Date

Good. We Were on the Brink of Stopping Playing.

Brink’s first downloadable content has been awaited by many players for several months. Almost as soon as the game was first released, Bethesda and Splash Damage were insisting that DLC was not a long time coming, and even more excitingly, it would be free.

Well, after what has been months of people questioning whether the DLC will ever hit online stores, it’s finally been confirmed that the Agents of Change package, which includes new maps, weapons and character outfits, will be released on Xbox LIVE and Steam on August 3rd, and on PSN the following day.

Alongside the announcement on CVG come a legion of screenshots, which actually make the DLC appear to be worth the wait. Despite the fact that Agents of Change was originally slated for a June release, it has been pushed back more times than is bearable – first to early July, then to late July, and now that the DLC finally has a release date – well excuse me for my ongoing skepticism.

A while ago, CVG also detailed the contents of the package, which you can see below.

New Maps

Founders’ Tower – The revolution finally reaches the island’s iconic spire and takes the battle for the Ark to dizzying heights.

Labs – Venture into the depths of the Ark’s original research and development laboratories, a submerged high-tech facility so far untouched by the civil war.

New Player Abilities

UAV – This stealthy and lethal device allows Operatives to automatically mark nearby enemies on their radar. For more explosive fun, they can even take direct control of the UAV and detonate it near unsuspecting foes.

Napalm Grenade – Soldiers can use this new grenade to cover an area in a sea of deadly flames.

Pyro Mine – Engineers can plant these mines and leave enemies in the epicenter of a massive napalm explosion.

Field Regen Unit – Medics can deploy these units to increase the health regeneration of any nearby teammates.

Tactical Scanner – This universal ability allows players to reveal the active buffs of their opponents, allowing them to pick off enemies more strategically.

New Weapon Attachments

Bayonets – Gain the edge in melee combat and cause extra damage with these deadly blades.

Weapon Shields – Take cover from enemy fire and prevent headshot bonus damage behind riot-style shields.

New Character Outfits

The Sad Punk – Add a touch of Steampunk to your Resistance character.

The Limey – Bring order to the Ark with this outfit inspired by traditional European police.

The level cap is also being raised to 24, for those of you with itchy trigger fingers.

But whether it comes within the next week or gets pushed back again, we can count on one thing – the promise that it will be free to download if done so within the first two weeks of release. After that, you can play it forever. Every painful waiting time has a financially-driven silver lining, it seems.
