Borderlands 2 Rumoured for 2012

Gearbox Wants to Do “A Lot Of Things” With Borderlands

A source close to the original Borderlands has revealed to Eurogamer that Borderlands 2 is on the cards for 2012, with head of Gearbox Randy Pitchford stating that Borderlands success means that a sequel is inevitable.

I can tell you that myself and everyone at Gearbox LOVES Borderlands and we have been absolutely thrilled at the reception it’s gotten from our customers and the fact that it’s sold over four million units now. So you can see that we supported the game like mad with lots of great DLC and you can imagine that we’re going to want to do a lot of things with Borderlands in the future.

However, he also followed up by making it clear that there is no official announcement of the game’s production, despite Eurogamer’s earlier reports of a tweet about the game’s development.

2K, on the other hand, have suggested that a sequel to Borderlands is a “no-brainer”. Whether or not we can believe speculation at this point, it’s been suggested by Eurogamer’s source that the game will be available sometime next year on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.
