It’s happened again: I’ve hit that proverbial wall I seem to regularly cycle toward; the feeling of seeing no point to continue playing. I’m talking about World of Warcraft, a mainstay of my daily gaming diet for years now. A game that, years after I took my first few steps in its lush worlds, still caused me to jump excitedly up from my desk and grab the next person I saw just to tell them about how awesome the new races are, or what hard-to-get achievement I had unlocked.
Long before the Apple logo could be found in every other person’s pocket, long before the iPod, the Intel switch, or the hipster worship of everything Steve Jobs gives/dumps on them, Apple was a struggling computer manufacturer.
Deathwing has risen and the world is burning. All about me there is chaos and death and the minions of evil have crawled out of their dungeons to lay siege to the forces of good. Our numbers are dwindling and still now the ground trembles with the might of the coming Cataclysm.
